简介： The 1984 FIA Formula One World Championship marked the 38th edition of this prestigious motor racing competition. It encompassed both the 1984 Formula One World Championship for Drivers and the 1984 Formula One World Championship for Manufacturers, which were simultaneously contested across a series of sixteen races. The season commenced on 25th March and concluded on 21st October.

In the Drivers' Championship, the season was characterized by a thrilling rivalry between McLaren drivers Alain Prost and Niki Lauda. Prost emerged victorious in seven races, surpassing Lauda's five victories, including the final two races of the season. However, Lauda ultimately claimed the title by a mere half a point, a narrowest margin in the annals of Formula One history. It was Lauda's third championship title, and his first since 1977. McLaren dominated the Manufacturers' Championship, securing their first victory since 1974.

This season also featured an exceptional achievement: Italy's Teo Fabi became the last driver of the 20th century to compete in both the F1 championship and the Indianapolis 500 during the same season. This remarkable feat was not repeated until 2017, when the Spaniard Fernando Alonso followed suit by participating in the Indy 500.
