Amy endeavors to draw the Doctor's focus as he meticulously repairs the TARDIS. Unbeknownst to her, Rory is lending a hand to the Doctor by fitting thermal couplings beneath the TARDIS's glass floor. An animated squabble ensues between Rory and Amy when the TARDIS abruptly trembles, and the lights dim. The Doctor questions Rory about a dropped thermal coupling, to which Rory confesses and offers his apologies. Amy also extends her contrition, and, to the Doctor's bewilderment, elucidates that Rory had been glancing up her skirt through the glass floor when the thermal coupling fell. The Doctor then observes that their landing was via "emergency materialization," which should have deposited the TARDIS in the safest possible space. The lights flicker back on, revealing an additional TARDIS within the control room—the TARDIS had materialized within itself. The Doctor experiments by stepping through the door of the TARDIS within the control room and immediately reappearing in the outer TARDIS's control room. He informs Rory and Amy that they are ensnared in a "space loop," rendering the TARDIS an impenetrable chamber for the time being. Despite his pronouncement, another Amy materializes through the TARDIS's outer door, exclaiming, "Okay, kids, this is where it gets complicated."

"Time"

The narrative picks up from the conclusion of "Space," where the other Amy discloses her origins from a few moments ahead in the future and her ability to enter the current outer TARDIS due to "the TARDIS's exterior shell having drifted forward in time." This other Amy is well-versed in the situation due to her perception that she is merely replaying what she had previously said. The Doctor dispatches the present Amy into the TARDIS within the TARDIS to "preserve the timeline." The two Amys engage in a playful flirtation before the present Amy departs, much to the Doctor's exasperation. Nonetheless, shortly thereafter, Rory and Amy emerge through the outer TARDIS door, explaining that, from their standpoint, the Doctor had just sent them into the inner TARDIS. The current Doctor swiftly sends the present Rory and the now-current Amy through the inner TARDIS. He then elucidates his plan to initiate a "controlled temporal implosion" to "reset the TARDIS," but to do so, he requires knowledge of the correct lever on the control panel. Immediately following his words, another Doctor steps through the outer TARDIS door and instructs him to use "the wibbly lever," which he promptly operates. He then enters the inner TARDIS to advise his past self on the correct lever to engage. The inner TARDIS dematerializes, as does the outer TARDIS, which remains the identical vessel. The Doctor reassures Amy and Rory that they are now back to "normal flight" and advises Amy to "put on some trousers."
