The dismembered remains of two individuals, one a female Swedish politician, were shockingly uncovered amidst the Øresund Bridge, the vital link between Copenhagen, Denmark, and Malmö, Sweden. The torso, severed at the waist, was meticulously positioned at the boundary dividing the two nations, thereby falling under the purview of both Danish and Swedish law enforcement agencies. Following an in-depth investigation, it was revealed that the body comprised two distinct corpses—one half belonging to a Danish prostitute. Saga Norén, representing the Swedish authorities, and Martin Rohde, from the Danish side, took the helm in the pursuit of the perpetrator.[4][5]
The probe swiftly intensified when Daniel Ferbé, a journalist, whose vehicle was implicated in the crime, began receiving ominous phone calls. The caller, now ominously dubbed the "Truth Terrorist," professed to be perpetrating these atrocities to shed light on various societal ills. Stefan Lindberg, a social worker whose sister fell victim to the Truth Terrorist, quickly emerged as an early suspect. Yet, the unfolding events led the Danish and Swedish investigative teams to conclude that the killer had ties to the police. They uncovered that the crimes had been meticulously plotted over several years. The investigation ultimately led them to Jens, a Danish officer and a former close confidant of Martin's, who was believed to have taken his own life following a tragic accident on the bridge that resulted in the deaths of his wife and son.
Throughout the investigation, Martin and Saga forged a strong working bond, despite their stark differences. Martin, a father to a twenty-year-old son, August, from his first marriage, now resides with his current wife, Mette, who is expecting twins after Martin underwent a vasectomy. Saga, on the other hand, lives independently and appears to eschew serious relationships, often seeking casual encounters with men at bars. Her behavior exhibits symptoms consistent with Asperger syndrome, which hampers her ability to form relationships and manage others effectively; she even declined a promotion due to these challenges.
As the killer continued to murder and meticulously mislead the investigation, his true intent—targeting Martin—finally came to light. Jens, now assuming the alias of Sebastian Sandstrod, approached Mette, who was vulnerable to his advances, after discovering Martin's affair with Charlotte Söringer, a woman tangentially involved in the case. Sebastian lured Mette and her children to a secluded location, where he subjected them to a harrowing ordeal, locking them in a room and presenting Mette with a hand grenade, its pin already pulled, to hold indefinitely. However, Saga discerned that August was the actual target. The investigation culminated in a dramatic confrontation on the bridge, where she felt compelled to inform Martin about August's plight and was forced to fire at him to thwart his plan to kill Sebastian, the killer's ultimate intention.
