简介： The 1989 FIA Formula One World Championship marked the 43rd iteration of the prestigious FIA Formula One motor racing competition. This season was distinguished by the dual championships—the 1989 Formula One World Championship for Drivers and the 1989 Formula One World Championship for Constructors—which were fiercely contested simultaneously across a grueling sixteen-race calendar. The campaign commenced on 26 March and concluded on 5 November, culminating in a series of dramatic events.

Alain Prost secured his third Drivers' Championship, while McLaren triumphed in the Constructors' Championship. The Drivers' Championship was determined under contentious circumstances during the penultimate race of the season, held in Japan. In a thrilling finale, Prost and his McLaren teammate, Ayrton Senna, collided on the final laps, with Senna needing to win the race to have a chance at the title. Prost retired from the race, while Senna restarted after being pushed back onto the track and crossed the finish line first. However, Senna was disqualified for not rejoining the track in the proper manner, which consequently awarded Prost the title. This victory was Prost's final Constructors' Championship with McLaren, as he would go on to join Ferrari for the 1990 season.
