简介:
Steven Quincy Urkel, born on July 25, 1976[1], is a renowned fictional character from the ABC/CBS[2] sitcom "Family Matters," brought to life by the talented Jaleel White. Initially appearing as a guest star, Urkel swiftly ascended to become the series' most beloved figure.
Urkel epitomized the quintessential geek/nerd, donning oversized, thick-framed eyeglasses, "high-waisted" or "flooding" trousers cinched with suspenders, and a kaleidoscope of colorful cardigan sweaters. His voice was a piercingly high-pitched, which only added to his endearing oddness. On the show, his principal interactions were with Laura Winslow, whom he harbored a platonic affection for, her often exasperated father, Carl, and an almost one-sided camaraderie with her brother, Eddie. Among the rest of the Winslow family, Harriette; Rachel; and "Mother" Estelle Winslow exhibited greater tolerance and affection for Urkel.
Throughout the series, Urkel was a staple in numerous recurring comedic situations, often involving unintended property damage and/or personal injuries stemming from his poorly executed inventions or sheer clumsiness. He became synonymous with several iconic catchphrases delivered after a humorous mishap, such as "I've fallen and I can't get up!", "Did I do that?", and "Now see what you did." His catchphrase, "Did I do that?", was actually a nod to Curly's line in the 1934 Three Stooges short film "Punch Drunks." Urkel was also recognized for his unique laugh, a combination of a loud cackle followed by a distinctive nasal snort.
