简介：
As the beloved series "Murder, She Wrote" strolls into its sixth season—a mere harbinger of its eventual twelfth—star Angela Lansbury continues to embody the character of Jessica Fletcher with an ever-present, spirited inquisitiveness. Jessica, a seasoned writer and an amateur sleuth, persists in her pursuit of justice across the picturesque town of Cabot Cove and beyond, navigating the labyrinthine plots of high finance, the opera, and even the enigmatic world of voodoo. This season marks the inception of a novel format, introducing guest detective episodes, which Jessica attributes either to a narrative of her own crafting or a story imparted by a confidant. These episodes feature an eclectic ensemble of eccentric investigators: a retired football legend, coupled with a brilliant poodle; a reality crime-show producer who tackles crime in the flesh; a portly Irish detective, a staple of character actors, Pat Hingle; a no-nonsense homicide cop, portrayed by Barry Newman of "Vanishing Point"; and the return of fan-favorite characters, such as the former jewel thief Dennis Stanton (Keith Michell) and the British secret agent Michael Haggerty (Len Cariou). The creators were clearly banking on the show's widespread appeal to spawn spin-offs, yet this season failed to ignite a new series, and the audience's resistance promptly terminated the experiment. It must have come as a shock to the executives to learn that while murder mysteries are propelled by plot, the true heartbeat of the show is the inimitable allure of Angela Lansbury. Nonetheless, these standalone episodes maintain a quality par with Lansbury's performances, and those who appreciate diversity in storytelling will find them equally enjoyable. The remainder of the season boasts an array of esteemed guests, ranging from classic movie stars like Donald O'Connor of "Singin' in the Rain" and Elliott Gould of "The Long Goodbye" to enduring television icons such as Shirley Jones of "The Partridge Family," Jerry Stiller of "The King of Queens," Doris Roberts of "Everybody Loves Raymond," Kevin Tighe of "Battlestar Galactica," and Gavin McLeod of "The Love Boat," as well as lesser-known celebrities who are just as captivating (Dack Rambo, Morgan Brittany, Susan Anton, and more).
