简介： During the Edo era in Japan, procuring justice through conventional channels could prove to be an arduous endeavor. In such instances, aggrieved parties would resort to hiring shigakenin—merciless assassins who were devoid of mercy and were commissioned to eliminate individuals who were thought to evade their just desserts. Fujieda Baian, an acupuncturist by trade, dedicatedly served his community as a healer. Yet, on certain occasions, he transformed into a person entirely unrecognizable—a healer whose talents were covertly wielded to terminate those who considered themselves untouchable by the law or the reach of justice. Filmed against the backdrop of historic Old Edo and other notable locations throughout Japan, this crime drama adeptly captures the somber essence of Shotaro Ikenami's novels that it is inspired by.
