简介： Morse and Lewis delve into the mysterious demise of Dr. Julian Dear, a distinguished senior fellow at an Oxford college. Tragically, Dear was en route to a pivotal debate on the night of his untimely death, where he was ambushed and succumbed to a fatal heart attack amidst what initially seemed like a mugging. The College's esteemed Master, Matthew Copley-Barnes, stumbled upon a young individual crouched over Dr. Dear's lifeless form, who then brushed him aside in a hurried retreat. Morse subsequently discovers that Copley-Barnes has been the recipient of peculiar packages, and further learns that the college boasts significant investments in Corby International, a preeminent bio-agricultural/chemical conglomerate. These revelations, coupled with the involvement of a renowned journalist, Sylvie Maxton, who is penning an article on the Master, propel Morse into the heart of a convoluted conspiracy involving the suppression of scientific data and the unearthing of a long-buried tragedy.
