简介： A marriage and a home can be brought to perfection with the addition of a new baby, yet Shirley Frame (portrayed by Brenda Blethyn) harbors a strong desire to extend her good fortune by engaging with the world and aiding others—thus driving her husband Phil (Warren Clarke) to distraction.

At the age of 39, Shirley welcomes her third child with a heart brimming with joy. Driven by the urge to share her happiness with the world, she embarks on a mission to enhance the lives of as many individuals as she can. Her husband Phil and their two teenagers are not easily swayed by her enthusiasm.

It doesn't take long for Shirley to realize that the role of a Good Samaritan is far from simple, particularly in a world rife with towering housing estates, drug misuse, and homelessness, even when one's own life appears picture-perfect. Shirley identifies a myriad of potential charitable causes, leaving Phil to tend to the baby while she attempts to improve the lives of others, often to no avail. Whether it's persuading a potential victim of suicide from the brink of death, imparting reading lessons to an illiterate young mother who is遭受 an abusive partner, or delving into the realm of marriage counseling, Shirley stumbles at every well-intentioned step—often drawing others' struggles too closely into her own intimate sphere.
