简介： Miles Hawkins believed he possessed everything he could desire — wealth, intellect, a wonderful family, and a formidable serve. Yet, a single bullet altered the course of his existence, leaving him paralyzed. Today, however, his life is poised for another transformation. Hawkins has crafted a revolutionary "harness," an advanced piece of technology equipped with a headgear that enables the brain's transmitters to circumvent the spine. In essence, this innovation grants him the ability to walk once more. More significantly, it empowers him with enhanced strength, speed, and agility. The only drawback is that he can never lead a normal life. He is either confined to a wheelchair or clad in this technologically advanced attire. Unable to simply take a leisurely stroll in the park like the rest of us, what is he to do?

Initially a reluctant hero, Hawkins is drawn into the world of combating crime. The violence that upended his life is now doing the same to the world around him. While operating within the harness and headset, he dons the identity of the Mantis and takes a stand against injustice. Equipped with an array of sophisticated high-tech tools, such as the Chrysalid, a prototype police vehicle capable of flight and submersion, he is supported by two individuals. John Stonebrake, his long-time friend and professional colleague, is the mastermind behind turning Hawkins' theories into tangible circuit boards. Taylor Savidge, a swift-riding Gen-X bike courier who discovered the Hawkins/Mantis connection, demanded a place on a team where an action-oriented individual like himself could truly thrive.

Opposing them are the rest of the world. The police, including Detective Leora Maxwell, who finds herself increasingly drawn to Hawkins, believe he is tarnishing their reputation and seek to bring him to justice as a vigilante. The media is eager to expose him, while the criminals view him as a threat to their operations. "M.A.N.T.I.S." unfolds in a sprawling megalopolis on the West Coast, set in the present day. The Mantis could potentially appear in your neighborhood tonight.
