简介： Fran has maintained a cherished pen friendship with Lenny since their first-grade days. Through the exchange of letters, Fran and Lenny have forged an amicable bond, one that feels almost akin to that of a couple. They made a mutual agreement from the outset to forgo the exchange of photographs, yet Lenny, now visiting New York, is eager to meet Fran in person. Maxwell, feeling a sense of rivalry with Lenny, is equally anxious to lay eyes on him. Conversely, Fran finds herself on edge about the impending meeting, as she has painted an exaggerated portrait of herself, "Fran Fine," in her correspondence. Nonetheless, she agrees to meet Lenny at the iconic Russian Tea Room, with each of them identifying the other by the red rose pinned to their lapels. Maxwell, eager to witness the encounter, accompanies Fran to the Russian Tea Room and remains by her side until Lenny arrives. During their wait, Fran and Maxwell enjoy a pleasant "date" of their own, so delightful that Fran nearly ceases to worry about Lenny's arrival.
