简介： The 1981 FIA Formula One World Championship marked the 35th iteration of this prestigious motorsport series. It encompassed both the 1981 Formula One World Championship for Drivers and the 1981 Formula One World Championship for Constructors, which were concurrently held across a comprehensive fifteen-race calendar. The races commenced on March 15th and concluded on October 17th. Additionally, Formula One vehicles participated in the 1981 South African Grand Prix, albeit this event was technically categorized as a Formula Libre race and did not constitute part of the Formula One World Championship proper.

The 1981 championship heralded the inception of the FIA Formula One World Championship, supplanting the erstwhile World Championship of Drivers and the International Cup for Constructors. Teams were now compelled to submit entries for the entire championship series, and a uniform set of regulations was enforced at each race, with the FIA also determining the prize monies.

Nelson Piquet emerged victorious in the Drivers' Championship, securing his first of three Driver titles, while the Williams team triumphed in the Constructors' Championship for a consecutive second year.
