简介： Susan Keene's wedding day witnessed a stunning reversal of fortune as she walked away from her betrothed at the altar. It appeared that her future had been mapped out to become a mere decorative spouse, a trophy wife. As a copy editor for The Gate, a publication she had been working with, Susan was employed by Jack, her then-fiance's brother. Entering the office that day, she anticipated being dismissed; however, Jack, whose marriage was far from blissful, was so impressed by her that he offered her a column, which he aptly titled "Suddenly Susan."

Susan found herself amidst a peculiar crew at The Gate. There was Vicky, a somewhat shrewish character who believed Susan could acquire anything due to her captivating beauty. Luis, a Latin photographer with a reputation for being a ladies' man, and Todd, the music critic, whose demeanor was a bit eccentric. In the second season, Maddy Piper, an investigative reporter Susan knew from high school and had never favored, joined the magazine. Maddy reveled in putting everyone down.

The third season saw Susan and Jack attempting to navigate a romantic relationship. By the fourth season, Jack, Maddy, and Todd had all departed. The Gate underwent a significant change when it was acquired by the domineering Ian Maxtone Graham, who brought along his secretary, Miranda, and Nate, a sports writer. Adding to the mix was Oliver, a friend of Ian's and a freelance photographer, who occasionally dropped by and caught Susan's eye.
