简介： Rachel James was tragically struck down by a bullet while enjoying her breakfast in the early hours of a morning. Her affair was with Dr. Julian Storrs, a distinguished Oxford professor vying for the position of Master at Lonsdale College. However, the subsequent murder of her neighbor led Morse to reconsider the circumstances surrounding James's shooting. He now suspects that the incident might have been a tragic misfire. Moreover, Morse harbors a suspicion that James may have been ensnared in a web of blackmail. Both Storrs and his rival for the Mastership, Denis Cornford, harbored secrets that could cast them as potential suspects. Morse further deduces that a myriad of individuals might have had motives to hide, and any one of them could have been the sinister hand behind these murders.
