简介： Barbara Carey embarks on a journey to Italy, where she plans to visit her visually impaired sister, Mary Ann, who is currently immersed in her studies at a prestigious music academy. Upon her arrival in Rome, Barbara is shocked to learn that her sister has mysteriously vanished. The Italian authorities suspect that Mary Ann might have fallen victim to a deranged individual who harbors an obsession with young, sightless women. With the invaluable assistance of Martin Foster, an official from the British Embassy, Barbara initiates a determined search for the truth about her sister's disappearance. She even takes the extraordinary step of feigning blindness herself, hoping to draw the perpetrator out. The trail of clues ultimately leads her to Seagull Island, a secluded haven that is privately owned by the enigmatic British citizen, David Malcolm. Barbara is then faced with a series of pivotal questions: Has Mary Ann indeed been abducted? What tragic fate befell David's wife and son on the island? And why does David's relative, Carol, exhibit such distress upon witnessing Barbara's presence with him?
