简介： The narrative commences with the introduction of a dashing 22-year-old, Danijel Loncar (portrayed by Zoran Pribicevic), returning to Zagreb on the cusp of his 22nd birthday, having lost his job in Italy. Upon arriving at the railway station, Danijel inadvertently crosses paths with a stunning woman, whose captivating presence instantly ignites a spark between them. Yet, before he can even inquire about her name, they are promptly reunited with their friends and family.

This enchanting woman is Petra Novak (played by Anita Berisha), who, coincidentally, has also returned home after completing her studies in photography in London. She is celebrating her 22nd birthday on the very same day. As the story unfolds, it is revealed that Danijel and Petra are twins who were separated at birth. Danijel was initially nurtured by the astute Nada Horvat (portrayed by Nada Rocco) before being reunified with his father, Josip Loncar (played by Drazen Mikulic), while Petra was raised by her mother, Viktorija Novak (portrayed by Sanja Vejnovic), who married into wealth with a prosperous aristocratic widower, Stjepan Novak (portrayed by Velimir Cokljat).

Each of the twins' parents had remarried and raised families with other adult children. The Loncar family included Danijel's father, Josip Loncar, a laborer; his wife, Biserka Loncar (portrayed by Vanja Matujec), a warm and down-to-earth housewife; and their children, Iva Loncar (portrayed by Marija Kobic), who had recently embarked on a romantic relationship with Igor Carevic (portrayed by Dejan Marcikic), and Matija (portrayed by Filip Riđicki), who was seeing his classmate, Lana Kos (portrayed by Petra Kurtela). Petra grew up under the care of her mother, Viktorija, her wealthy husband Stjepan, who owned a thriving vineyard and was a successful businessman, and Stjepan's son from a previous marriage, the vindictive Borna Novak (portrayed by Mario Valentic).

Upon discovering Petra's whereabouts, Danijel cautiously entered the realm of the influential Novak family by securing a position as a gardener, unaware that he was working for his biological mother or that he had fallen for his own sister.

Among the other central figures are Lidija Bauer (portrayed by Katja Zupcic), who harbored deep affection for Stjepan but had distanced herself out of respect for the family and her children. Lidija had two children of her own: the pampered and obstinate Tina Bauer (portrayed by Antonija Sola) and the kind-hearted medical student, Leon Bauer (initially portrayed by Mario Mohenski, later by Marin Knezevic), who was betrothed to Petra at Viktorija's urging, only for the wedding to be called off after the revelation of his homosexuality. Viktorija's closest confidante, the whimsical socialite Stela Vidak (portrayed by Matija Prskalo), was introduced as a supporting character early on but quickly became a pivotal figure. She eventually engaged in a romance with Danijel Loncar. Antonija Å ola (born June 5, 1979) is a Croatian actress and singer.

Upon the revelation of Danijel and Petra's shared lineage, Viktorija liquidated all the assets from her fashion label, V-Style, as well as her husband's, and vanished overnight, leaving the family on the brink of financial ruin. The family was taken aback by Viktorija's abrupt departure, which paved the way for the unexpected return of Stjepan's wife, Karolina Novak (portrayed by Vesna Tominac - Matacic), who was once presumed dead. Karolina swiftly accounted for her 20-year absence and endeared herself to everyone in the family, with the exception of Petra, who saw beyond Karolina's amiable facade.

Petra uncovered that it was Karolina who had visited Viktorija on the night of her disappearance and accused her of driving her mother away. Karolina confessed to the visit, yet underestimated a crucial detail – Viktorija's body was discovered buried in the family vineyard.

The unfolding storylines delved into the romantic entanglements of the various characters, numerous instances of familial instability rooted in the collapses of both Josip's and Viktorija's marriages following their attempts to reignite their love, and the intricate business intrigues surrounding Stjepan's company. The series also broadened its scope by introducing another family, the Fijan family. Biserka's cunning brother, Zlatko Fijan (portrayed by Mirsad Tuka), who had emigrated to Argentina years prior, would emerge as Stjepan's formidable adversary. His daughter, Ana Fijan (portrayed by Jelena Percin), would later introduce her mother, Gabrijela Fijan (portrayed by Barbara Vickovic), who was institutionalized in Argentina and presumed to be mentally unstable. Despite an initially slow start, the show "Zabranjena ljubav" (Forbidden Love) became a resounding success and is poised to continue for many years, with many of the cast members achieving stardom through their performances in the series.
